First of all, let me start by commending you all for adherence to the guidelines and preventive measures provided by the NCDC and WHO across the globe. For the avoidance of doubt, the lockdown in the FCT, Lagos and Ogun States shall remain in place until these new ones come into effect on Monday, 4th May 2020. The Presidential Task Force shall provide sector specific details to allow for preparations by Governments, businesses and institutions. In respect to the above guidelines, State Governors may choose to adapt and expand based on their unique circumstances provided they maintain alignment with the guidelines issued above. With regards to #Kano, I have directed the enforcement of a total lockdown for a period of two weeks effective immediately. It is not right that the President’s speech was already circulating on WhatsApp at 8:05 before he got to the crux of his announcement on #LockdownEnd. It’s not right. There was speculation that the presidential speech had surfaced on social media media before he made the official broadcast as at 8:00 pm Nigeria time.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticised President Muhammadu Buhari over his Monday COVID-19 address.

In a statement by its spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, the opposition party said Mr Buhari has failed to offer decisive solutions to protect Nigerians from the deadly pandemic.

President Muhammadu Buhari had in his broadcast extended the lockdown in Lagos, Abuja and Ogun State by one week.

From next week Monday, the president said, the lockdown will be relaxed in the three states to night curfews (8 p.m. to 6 a.m.).

The president said this on Monday night while addressing Nigerians on the COVID-19 outbreak.

But the PDP expressed disappointment that President Buhari did not offer any post lockdown stimulus to assist Nigerians in the private sector whose businesses had been crippled by the lockdown and are now faced with the burden of workers’ salaries and business refinancing.

The PDP lamented that apart from the elementary lockdown and failed palliative showboating, President Buhari did not offer a decisive solution regarding the production of drugs, testing kits and management of equipment to safeguard Nigerians, despite the huge resources at the disposal of his administration.

The party further described as saddening that President Buhari did not address the demands by Nigerians to end his administration’s political parochialism and engage competent hands, including indigenous researchers, equipment manufacturers, pharmaceutical, medical as well as virology experts to infuse homegrown therapeutic solutions in the overall effort.

“The party insists that had President Buhari heeded this demand by Nigerians at the onset of the pandemic, the situation would not have escalated to this frightening level with no solutions in sight.”

“The PDP also finds it difficult to reconcile President Buhari’s assurances of adequate test kits with the disposition of the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) which declared that it is desperately in shortage of test kits and other medical equipment to combat the scourge.” according to premium times @premiumtime.

  5. After 2hrs of the speech
Oby ezekwesili@obyeze posted on her twitter handle that at what age @ngr Gov @mbuh give a speech and present himself to be questioned by the media?

This method of the President reading speeches to citizens without opportunity given to journalists to probe the ideas conveyed is frankly unacceptable.

  6. Lock down is not the solution to this pandemic. For how long will the economy continue to be down? Let's pray we get the vaccine as soon as possible that xoukc be the only solution. May God help us

DAY3:#A TRIP TO ABUJA

The Abuja roads are not as rosy as displayed in the city centre.  Abuja could be viewed on the media as rosy as a rose flower. But nevertheless, the city centre is growing in terms of infrastructural development. It's high time attention should be diverted to other suburbs of Abuja out of the city centre. The population of Abuja is not centered only at the city center but the suburbs of Abuja like Kubuwa, Lugbe Gwarimpa etc. Today on my day three blogs i decided to take a ride from Kubuwa: Gado Nasco, Ijayapi street - Liberty Junction in Kubuwa but the disco dance could not be emphasize. A ride of less than 15mins took up to an hour before you could get to your destination; that is how the entire population of these suburb suffered daily in order to meet their daily needs and wants just because of the bad road or call it bad governance. On this road it was seen that the community members are trying within their means and contributions by the individual to fix the road by themselve...
